Despite challenging conditions and rising fuel prices, the Emirates Group posted a record net profit of AED5.9 billion ($1.6 billion) for its fiscal year ended March 31, up 42.9% over net income of AED4.15 billion in its prior fiscal year, on a 26.4% rise in revenue to AED57.38 billion. The result marked the company's 23rd consecutive annual profit.

Geographically, the East Asia and Australasian region was the biggest source of revenue at 29.2%, followed by Europe at 27.2%. West Asia and the Indian Ocean accounted for 12.1% of annual revenue with the Gulf, Africa and the Americas each contributing around 10.5%.

Eπόμενος προορισμός για τα Α380 της ΕΚ το Μόναχο, απ' την πρωτοχρονιά του '12.

Η αύξηση της χωρητικότητας τόσο στο Μόναχο όσο και στη Φρανκφούρτη (εκεί με επιπλέον πτήση) έρχεται ως αποτέλεσμα της άρνησης των Γερμανών να εγκρίνουν πτήσεις των εμίρηδων σε Βερολίνο και Στουτγκάρδη χωρίς να κόψουν άλλους προορισμούς

Emirates said the additional daily will be operated "in accordance with the current air services arrangements between the UAE and Germany".

The agreement between Dubai and Germany does not specify a limit on the number of flights which Emirates can operate.

But the airline is currently limited to flying to four destinations in Germany.

Emirates is keen to fly to Berlin and Stuttgart - but for that to happen, the German government says it must drop two of its existing four points.

Η ΕΚ φαίνεται να συζητά με την Boeing για το νέο 777 ενώ ταυτόχρονα ίσως να απομακρύνεται απ' το Α350. Οι Αμερικάνοι πάντως περιμένουν το 350-1000 ώστε να αποφασίσουν το τί ρετουσάρισμα θα δεχθεί το 777.

Επίσης, η κόντρα ΕΚ-LH φαίνεται να περνάει και σε επίπεδο HR καθώς φήμες θέλουν πρώην εκτελεστικό αντιπρόεδρο των Γερμανών να έχει ήδη υπογράψει στους εμίρηδες. Μα καλά έτσι τους αφήνουν να φύγουν? Χωρίς ρήτρες, χωρίς καμία προστασία? :?

Δεν είναι φήμες. Υπάρχει επιβεβαίωση από την Emirates. Όσο για το αν υπάρχει ρήτρα ή όχι, φαντάζομαι ότι η Emιrates θα ήταν διατεθημένη πιστεύω να πληρώσει "όσο όσο" για να αποκτήσει εσωτερική πληροφόρηση όσον αφορα τη Lufthansa.

Χαζευοντας το http://www.flightradar24.com επεσα πανω στην πτηση της emirates για τοροντο. Εδω και αρκετη ωρα κανει κυκλους. Για ποιο λογο μπορει να συμβαινει αυτο?

Μόνο υποθέσεις μπορούμε να κάνουμε βέβαια βάσει της εικόνας. Εφόσον είχε μόλις απογειωθεί για Τορόντο κάποιο τεχνικό πρόβλημα ή κάποιο birdstrike θα μπορούσε να είναι επίσης πιθανό που το πλήρωμα να θέλει να επιστρέψει πίσω. Όμως με τόσο φορτωμένο καύσιμο ικανό να φτάσει non stop στο Τορόντο δεν μπορεί να προσγειωθεί άμεσα. Γι'αυτό κάνει holding απ'ότι μπορώ να διακρίνω σε χαμηλό σχετικά ύψος (για να τα κάψει πιο γρήγορα) για να χάσει την απαραίτητη ποσότητα που θα του επιστρέψει να προσγειωθεί και πάλι ασφαλώς.

Φαίνεται ότι δεν μπορούν να το χωνέψουν στην Emirates ότι η Qatar πετά στο Μπουένος Άιρες (ήλπιζαν ότι θα έτρωγαν τα μούτρα τους) έτσι αποφάσισαν ότι και αυτοί πρέπει να μπουν στο παιχνίδι.
Σχεδιάζουν να αρχίσουν την γραμμή Ντουμπάι- Ρίο- Μπουένος Άιρες.

Nτού στις ΗΠΑ ετοιμάζει η ΕΚ -αν τους αφήσουν βέβαια οι αμερικάνοι. Τις νέες καθημερινές πτήσεις για Dallas (ξεκινάει 2/2/12) και Seattle (1/3/12) ακολουθούν φιλόδοξα σχέδια σύμφωνα με τον Clark

In his Bloomberg interview, Tim Clark hinted that Emirates wishes to add further US cities to its route network. These include Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Philadelphia and Washington DC.

Φυσικά, όπως τονίζεται στο άρθο, αναμένεται να δυσαρεστηθούν κι άλλα βαριά ονόματα

The announcement of these two cities, let alone the other US possibles, will not sit well with Europe’s flag-carriers who currently capitalise on the voluminous passenger flows between the Middle East, Asia, Africa and North America.

Until now the comprehensive North American networks operated by the likes of British Airways, Air France, KLM and Lufthansa has given them the edge over the likes of Emirates, Etihad and Qatar Airways.

Ούτως ή άλλως η ΕΚ το ανακοίνωσε εδώ και 6 μήνες ότι ξεκινάει για Rio και Buenos Aires.
