Aegean Airlines placed an order for 3 additional A320s. The aircraft are scheduled to be delivered between 2007 and 2009.

Aegean Airlines ordered three more IAE V2500-powered A320s, bringing its total order for the type to 14 including three leased from ILFC, plus nine options. It signed the initial agreement in December (ATWOnline, Dec. 13, 2005). The new A320s are scheduled to be delivered between January 2007 and April 2009 and will replace older aircraft and be used for expansion on routes from the carrier's Athens and Thessaloniki bases. "Our success on both domestic and international routes gives us the confidence and the drive to invest in a larger aircraft," President and CEO Theodoros Vassilakis said.

Following the addition of Sofia to its network, Aegean will start flying to Bucharest in October and plans to serve Istanbul, Cairo, Belgrade and other destinations in the Balkans once permission is secured. It also will develop further its six routes to Germany and Italy. It is a Lufthansa regional partner and reports an average annual growth rate of 20% over the past five years. It offers flights to 15 Greek and eight European destinations and operates a fleet of six Avro RJs, five 737-300s and eight 737-400s.

Η αρχική παραγγελία ήταν 8 order + 12 options, με την πρόσφατη μετατροπή των 3 options σε παραγγελία έχουμε 11 orders + 9 options + 3 lease.

Άντε και υπομονή μέχρι το Γενάρη. Πολύ θα γούσταρα ένα Ελληνικό Aegean να πήγαινε Κωνσταντινούπολη. αυτό το permission is secured παίχτηκε πολύ άσχημα για το δρομολόγιο της Σόφιας...

Aegean Airlines selects Rockwell Collins avionics

Aegean Airlines, based in Greece, has selected Rockwell Collins' avionics, as well as its Programmable Audio Video Entertainment System (PAVES(r)) and the Airshow 4200 moving map information system for eight new and three leased Airbus A320 aircraft. The agreement also calls for an option on 12 additional aircraft with deliveries scheduled to begin in February 2007.

A highlight of the avionics package is the Rockwell Collins' WXR-2100 MultiScan(tm) Weather Radar, which is a fully automatic radar that reduces pilot workload and enhances safety and passenger comfort by reducing unexpected turbulence encounters. MultiScan provides optimal weather detection from the nose of the aircraft to 320 nautical miles.

Other Rockwell Collins avionics selected by Aegean Airlines are the complete array of aircraft sensors, including the latest generation VHF-2100 data radio. The VHF-2100 design provides higher reliability due to 30% fewer part and 20 percent lower power requirements than previous designs. The VHF-2100 also supports all future operational modes of VHF Data Link. Rockwell Collins AOC-900 Data Link operational software was selected by Aegean Airlines.

Another highlight of the avionics package is the GLU-925 Multi Mode receiver (MMR), which is the first to include LAAS, and supports growth to future FMS landing system (FLS) and GPS landing system (GLS) capabilities currently in development at Airbus.

Rockwell Collins Airshow 4200 offers a full-featured multimedia platform, incorporating a wide variety of capabilities, including 3-D route maps, real-time news feeds, connecting gate information, and points-of-interest media libraries. It captures real-time flight information from the aircraft's flight management computer, long-range navigation system, and aircraft communication systems. The Airshow 4200 can use the on-board ACARS connection to retrieve current airport terminal information.

Μέχρι να το εγγρίνει αυτό η ΥΠΑ, θα έχουν αποσυρθεί τα αεροπλάνα, λόγω γήρατος !

Νομίζω πως τα Avro-Jet είναι τα πλέον κατάλληλα από πλευράς χώρου-ταχύτητας-έτους κατασκευής!! Η Aegean εξάλλου πόνταρε πολλά στα Avro και θεωρώ ότι καλά έκανε όσο αναφορά τα Ελληνικά αεροδρόμια (έχει 6 ιδιόκτητα).

Ναι, βέβαια, εκτός από ταχύτητα και έτος κατασκευής παίζουν ρόλο και άλλα κριτήρια (κατανάλωση καυσίμου, έξοδα συντήρησης, χωρητικότητα σε επιβάτες κ.ά.), λόγω των οποίων υπάρχουν κάποιες αμφιβολίες σε σχέση με το αν τα Avro είναι ιδανικά για την Ελλάδα. Δεν είναι τυχαίο ότι ο συγκεκριμένος τύπος α/φών τείνει να αποσυρθεί με τον καιρό από τους στόλους των εταιριών που τον χρησιμοποιούν. Φαντάζομαι, όμως, ότι η Α3 τα απέκτησε σε καλή (ίσως και πολύ καλή) τιμή, δεδομένου ότι η παραγγελία της έγινε όχι πολύ καιρό πριν την οριστική διακοπή της παραγωγής του τύπου.

Πολύ πομπώδες και...ακατάληπτο ακούγεται αυτό. Ή είναι
1) Η ΜΕΓΑΛΥΤΕΡΗ ΑΝΑΠΤΥΞΗ ΕΛΛΗΝΙΚΗΣ ΑΕΡΟΠΟΡΙΚΗΣ ΕΠΙΧΕΙΡΗΣΗΣ

2) Η ΜΕΓΑΛΥΤΕΡΗ ΑΝΑΠΤΥΞΗ ΑΕΡΟΠΟΡΙΚΗΣ ΕΠΙΧΕΙΡΗΣΗΣ ΕΥΡΩΠΑΙΚΩΣ.

Δεν έχω κανένα πρόβλημα να το αποδεχτώ και να το χειροκροτήσω. Αλλά κάντο μας φίλε Αντώνη σε φραγκοδίφραγκα, για να το καταλάβουμε τί εννοείς. (ή τι εννοεί η εταιρεία που προφανώς το υποστηρίζει).

Τα ATR ΄πάντως καλό θα ήταν να μην τα ξαναδούμε , στα σχετικά μεγάλα αεροδρόμια της χώρας μας. Νομίζω πως τα Avro-Jet είναι τα πλέον κατάλληλα από πλευράς χώρου-ταχύτητας-έτους κατασκευής!!

Όπως είπε ήδη και ο George, τα Avro είναι αρκετά αντιοικονομικά αεροσκάφη για τα περισσότερα δρομολόγια εσωτερικού που εκτελούν, και απο πλευράς κατανάλωσης καυσίμων (4 κινητήρες) και από πλευράς χωρητικότητας, που για πολλά δρομολόγια είναι αρκετά μεγάλη...
