Aircraft- spotting is a little- known activity in Greece, so if you are interested in visiting any of its airports (forget military air bases), please accept that people may not understand exactly what you are doing. Fortunately, at Athens the work of a group of local enthusiasts is starting to change the situation. Thanks to them, the airport authority knows there are people interested in watching and/or photographing aircraft. Two years ago an exhibition on the groups's activities went on show in the main terminal, next to the airport museum (beside the McDonalds restaurant). Ther local policeare also beginning to realise that people with cameras and binoculars (no radio scanners, please, they are banned in Greece) are not necessarily terrorists.
