Itinerary of the tour:
For more than 25 years, US-sanctions have been preventing the impressingly large airfleet of Iran from getting renewed. Thanks to intensive caretaking of both governmental and private Iranian airlines, an extraordinary interesting fleet of jet-oldtimers could be kept airworthy despite – or even because of – US-sanctioning. Thus, Iran definitely is one of the most interesting countries in the world for the aviation enthusiast.
Due to this reason, we are offering the aviation enthusiast a dedicated tour into this beautiful country which is organized by in cooperation with Shiraz-based licensed and experienced tour operator Pars Tourist Agency (P.T.A.).
Highlights of this trip are domestic flights on rare aircraft, including one of the last Boeing B707s remaining in use for regular pax operations.
For a maximum of 30 participants, this trip could be the last chance ever to experience this aircraft type before a phase-out will happen sooner or later in the near future.

Arrival at Teheran
Flight to Tehran. Depending on your departure airport, your arrival is expected to be in the late evening or in the (early) morning of Friday, SEP 1.
It depends on the airline you are travelling with if you will arrive in Tehran at the new airport of the Iranian capital, Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKA) or at the older city-airport Mehrabad International (THR) – but no matter where you are obliged to land – we pick you up and bring you to the calmness of a Tehran hotel to get some hours of resting!

Boeing 707, SAHA AIR
After a feast of a typical Iranian breakfast (usually consisting of Nan-bread, tomatoes, cucumbers, goat cheese and fried eggs), the first excursion of this trip takes you to the Iranian Aviation Museum, situated near Karaj in the desert south of Tehran. Both the fascinating history of Iran’s flag carrier Iran Air as well as some military types can be seen here.
Right afterwards we return to the capital and drive to Mehrabad International Airport which is mainly used for domestic flights.
At around 2 pm, the first highlight of our tour is expected to be ready for take-off!
Saha Air’s Boeing B707 will take us on a 1’20’’ flight to Mashhad MHD in eastern Iran – a fascinating landscape en route as well as spectacular views of the Alborz mountains and the Kavir desert are waiting for you!
After arrival we will be transfered to downtown Mashhad, where we check-in at a hotel close to the holy shrine of Imam Reza, with its golden dome one of the main places holy to Shiite Muslims and an impressive sight for foreign visitors.
The afternoon of today is dedicated to the cultural aspects of this trip by making a guided walk through the inner city area of Mashhad.

Tupolev 154, IRAN AIR TOURS
After breakfast we drive back to Mashhad Airport from where we take another interesting flight across Iran: from Mashhad MHD to Shiraz SYZ in the south of Iran. We fly all the way over the central Zagros mountains and make our final approach to SYZ right over one of Irans major salt lakes. A Tupolev 154 of IRAN AIR TOURS, a subsidiary of flag carrier Iran Air, is planned to be used for this 1’15’’ domestic flight.
Some of the Tupolevs flying here used to be in operation for the governmental division of Eastern German Interflug (which can be recognised by German inscriptions and signs in the cabin), although we cannot guarantee that our aircraft will be one of them. After landing at SYZ we will be taken to our hotel in the city of Shiraz.
In the afternoon you will visit one of the Orient’s most important sights, the cradle of the old Persian empire, Persepolis, a huge regents palace built aside the Zagros mountains, older than the Pyramides! The archaeological site is situated less than one hour from the city of Shiraz.

Fokker 50, KISH AIR
This morning, we continue our trip and take our own domestic charter flight on a Fokker 50 of KISH AIR. The flight will take us from Shiraz SYZ to the Persian Gulf Island of Kish.
Amazingly, Kish Island is the most important holiday resort within Iran, frequented by domestic travellers - many rules being “hard and fast” on the mainland seem to be handled fairly relaxed by Iranian authorities here. In Iran, people even call Kish Island the “land of unlimited possibilities”!
At Kish Airport we expect to be allowed to photograph directly on the airfield and apron, both parked and running airplanes (in coordination with the Iranian authorities), which means nearly unlimited planespotting!

Boeing 707, SAHA AIR
Before we start our flight back to Tehran, we use the chance to see and enjoy the sights of this most important Iranian islands of the Persian Gulf. You will even have the chance for a relaxed walk along the beaches and sandy shores along the Gulf’s waters!
After this we will – early enough to have time for taking photos – get to Kish Airport again where our SAHA Air flight back to Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport will most likely be operated in a phantastic B707 again, which is chartered by an Iranian tour operator to take their customers back from their Kish holidays!
The flight is planned to take off from Kish in the evening.

Leaving Iran
In the early hours of the day we will transfer you to either IKA or THR, depending on where your return flight back to Europe is departing from.
